Hope Thompson

Senior Risk Management Consultant

Hope has over 30 years of experience in the health care environment with a background in the acute care/high risk fields of OB, Cardiology, and Emergency/Safety. Following those accomplishments, she then combined her clinical and administrative skills to work as a nursing supervisor, responsible for staffing and managing the entire organization for several years before entering the field of risk management.

Hope was the Director of Risk Management for 9 years in an acute care facility. In that position, Hope planned, developed and maintained an internal risk management program, which included the responsibility for the establishment of risk identification systems, claims administration, loss prevention programs, and identifying patterns of exposure to medical liability. She also assisted in risk financing decisions and managing patient complaints, while continuing to maintain the functions of the quality improvement, utilization review, infection control, and employee health programs.

Hope is an active member of both the California Society for Healthcare Risk Management (CSHRM) and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM). During her years of membership, Hope has served on CSHRM's Nominating Committee, the Education Committee, and the Professional Ethics Committee. Hope served as the Co-Chair of the Education Committee. Hope was also elected and served as CSHRM's President for 2002-2003.

Hope has a good understanding of the challenges that face health care entities in today's pressured setting.
