Jeffry Sousa

President & Chief Executive Officer

As President and Chief Executive Officer of Optima Healthcare Insurance Services, Mr. Sousa is responsible for the operations and management of Optima and California Healthcare Insurance Company, Inc., A Risk Retention Group (CHI). Optima is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CHI, which formed its own insurance brokerage and service company in 1997.

Mr. Sousa was instrumental in the start-up of CHI and has served in many capacities, including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, since its inception in 1988.

Prior to the formation of Optima, Mr. Sousa served as Executive Vice President, Interim President, and Chief Financial Officer for California Hospitals Affiliated Insurance Services (CHAIS), developing the financial and accounting system for CHAIS and CHI.

Before joining CHAIS in 1988, Mr. Sousa acquired extensive experience in many financial areas of the insurance industry. Previously, Mr. Sousa held the position of treasurer for The Insco-Dico Group and was responsible for all company financial functions, including the financial management of the investment portfolio. Mr. Sousa held various positions at Industrial Underwriters, a subsidiary of Industrial Indemnity, a company engaged in managing and developing captives for large self insurers.

Mr. Sousa holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, San Diego State University.
